There is a version of the ankle boot that belongs on a ranch, and this isn't it. The Ardsley keeps the elastic side panels and pull tab that make a boot easy to live with, then puts a brogue-punched wing across the toe and a polished contrast panel along the quarter. The toe is tapered rather than blunt, which is most of what separates a boot you can wear to an office from one you can't.
